Curious Minds Programmes (12 to 35 months old)

What is it about?

Curious Minds (CM) is a multi-sensory Toddler Programme for your little ones. We tap into your child’s natural curiosity to explore the world of Phonics and Art with Jolly Phonics, immersive storytelling sessions, interactive play, tactile play, art and craft and body movement... The best way to learn letter sounds!

Evidence-based Research

Our Curious Minds programme aims to promote your child's development in a language-rich environment alongside you. We believe that children below 4 years of age should be exposed to vocabulary and language rich interactions. Research has shown that these children have higher IQs than their peers.

Our belief

In Curious Minds, our adult-mediated interactions are individual, frequent and intentional in order to have a strong positive effect on your child's development. Your child will learn in a safe environment alongside you as we explore music and movement, experiment with Art and Crafts and sensory play to develop our fine motor skills and appreciation for the arts, as well as hone our creativity and imagination through Storytelling... all while building a strong foundation in Literacy through Phonics. We end our sessions with snack time so as to foster socialisation skills among our young ones who might not be attending school yet.

Our curriculum

Curious Thoughts Academy

Curious Thoughts Academy uses the Jolly Phonics programme which is a fun and child-centred approach to teaching literacy through synthetic phonics. It is a child-centric approach with actions for each of the 42 letter sounds. The multi-sensory method is fun yet effective for children as young as 6 months old to kickstart their literacy journey.

Letter sounds are taught in a specific order (not alphabetically). This enables children to begin building words as early as possible.

Using a synthetic phonics approach, Jolly Phonics teaches children the five key skills for reading and writing.

The five skills taught in Jolly Phonics are:

1. Learning the letter sounds (begins in Curious Minds classes)
2. Learning letter formation (begins in Basic classes)
3. Blending (begins in Basic classes)
4. Identifying the sounds in words (Segmenting) (begins in Basic classes)
5. Tricky words (begins in Basic classes)

Art Wonderland

Our weekly Art and Craft components are curated by our sister company Art Wonderland. Art Wonderland is an experienced art education company with over a decade of experience. Their Art curriculum is based on research, experimentation and various art pedagogies that will engage children to be confident and independent art makers. As Artists-Educators, they conduct workshops for established organisations such as Singapore Art Museum, National Museum, and Affordable Art Fair, and also prepare students for DSA (Visual Art) to schools such as SOTA.

Our Philosophy

Over here at Curious Thoughts Academy and Art Wonderland, we stretch our students' developments through a meaningful and well-curated curriculum.

"The fundamental way in which a child's higher mental functions are formed is through mediated activities shared with an adult or more competent peer." -Vygotsky (1986). Thought and Language.
